Faith Formation at St. Elizabeth Seton provides Catholic education and formation for all members of the parish community. Guided by the Holy Spirit, all are invited to a life-long commitment to a greater faith and a vibrant spirituality.

Religious education program is an ongoing religious process to have children experience the awareness of religion in their lives. A textbook series is used to assure a progressive and appropriate doctrinal development. Classes are held either Monday or Tuesday as available and are led by volunteer instructors and aides.

You may volunteer as an instructor, assistant instructor or aide.

Virtus training required for this ministry

Grade 1 Through Grade 9

All parish religious education for children is intended to complement the awesome responsibility of training their children in the practice of the faith that parents accepted at the Baptism when their children became part of the family/community of God. Supported by a parish community that catechizes by its lifestyle in liturgy, service, and hospitality, the children grow through the formal and informal sharing of God’s Word. The goal is to provide the children who are catechized with a real sense of belonging to God’s family/community.

Parents have the right and the duty to be intimately involved in preparing their children for the sacraments. Therefore, family preparation is the model used. Catechesis is provided for parents at scheduled meetings throughout the year. At the present time in our parish, Reconciliation and First Eucharist are in the spring, and Confirmation is in the fall. Each sacrament requires a two-year preparation period.

At the present, Faith Formation for this age level meets at these times:

Grades one through six: Mondays or Tuesdays (at various times, dependent on selection/availability)
Junior High: Sunday mornings, Monday or Tuesday evenings

Adult Formation

Theological Formation
Periodically throughout the year, especially during the Seasons of Advent /Christmas and Lent, programs are offered for enrichment on the level of both information and formation.
